Support for Hendrickson

I am writing to support attorney Eric Hendrickson for Waupaca County Circuit Judge.

I have known Eric Hendrickson longer than either of us care to admit – going back to junior high school. We attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison together before going to different law schools.

Though our careers took divergent paths since graduating from law school, I have remained in touch with Eric and had the opportunity to observe him serve his clients for 30 years. Over that time, he has brought unmatched intellectual ability and legal acumen to difficult cases. He has worked diligently, with unfailing perseverance to advocate for his clients while serving the search for truth and justice.

I have so trusted his ability and judgment that I have referred family members and my own clients to him for legal representation when I could not provide it myself.

Eric’s background in civil litigation and family law will serve Waupaca County well. While criminal justice is certainly important, too often the public focuses only on that aspect of the law – leaving the courts with few judges who understand the different laws (both substantive and procedural) that affect litigants in contested civil and family disputes. Eric’s diverse background will serve Waupaca County well.

Further, Eric has deep roots in central Wisconsin. He grew up in Wisconsin Rapids, returned to central Wisconsin after graduating from law school, and raised his family in Waupaca. He has been active in the community from the start – meaning he shares the values of those who call Waupaca County home.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Eric has the correct demeanor to be a judge. He understands the solemn responsibility assumed by judges and can balance the community’s interest in seeing justice done while simultaneously being compassionate and empathetic to those who find themselves in court as litigants.

Going to court is rarely anyone’s idea of a good time. But, Eric Hendrickson’s common sense, legal knowledge, empathy, and gentle sense of humor will turn a day in court into an opportunity to learn and to see justice served.

Over the past 30 years, my practice has taken me into both Wisconsin federal courts, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Wisconsin Appellate and Supreme Courts, and circuit courts from Kenosha County to Douglas County and points in between. I have had the opportunity to see many judges at work and Waupaca County is fortunate to now have the opportunity to elect someone who has the ability to be among the finest jurists, Eric Hendrickson. I hope Waupaca County does so.
