Saunders soloist at concert

Waupaca Community Chorus to perform April 9

Holly Saunders will be the soloist in this year’s Waupaca Community Chorus and Civic Orchestra Concert.

The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, in the Waupaca High School Performing Arts Center.

She will be featured as the soloist in John Rutter’s Requiem and in the American Mass by Ron Kean.

Audiences will also recall Saunders as the featured soprano soloist from last year’s production of Handel’s Messiah.

Saunders is always happy to sing with the Waupaca Community Chorus.

She lives in Waupaca with her husband and two daughters and works as the director of music and liturgy at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Community.

Saunders has worked as a vocal coach, clinician, pianist, music director, conductor, director and soloist throughout the state.

But, her greatest joy is teaching private voice lessons, which she has done in Waupaca for more than 15 years.

Saunders earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in vocal performance from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of Colorado Boulder respectively.

This summer, Saunders will direct “Annie” for the second time for the Waupaca Community Theatre.

Tickets for the April 9 community choir concert may be purchased at the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce, Stratton’s Drug Store, the Waupaca Community Arts Center, from choir members and at the door.

Tickets for adults are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, while tickets for students are $4 in advance and $6 at the door.
Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
