Driver faces felony OWI

The arresting officer says the driver blew a .235 BAC.

Michael R. Schultz, 53, Dale is charged with an eighth drunken driving offense.

He remains in custody on a $5,000 cash bond.

According to the criminal complaint, Waupaca County Deputy Curtis Much stopped a vehicle on State Highway 96 near Marten Road in rural Fremont after he saw it cross the centerline, then cross the fog line.

A preliminary breath test indicated the driver, identified as Schultz, had a blood-alcohol content of .235 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.

Schultz has seven prior drunken driving convictions between July 1992 and May 2011, the complaint says.

He was sentenced to two years in prison in Winnebago County after his 2011 conviction.

Schultz faces up to 12 1/2 years in prison if convicted of an eighth offense.
