Teen dies in shooting

A 15-year-old boy died after being shot with a .22-caliber firearm in the town of Farmington.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 emergency call at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday that a boy had been shot in the shoulder.

Dispatch provided instructions for advanced life-saving measures and people at the Rieben Road home attempted to save the teen.

Deputies, Waupaca police and ambulance personnel arrived and continued to work on the teen at the home.

ThedaStar was contacted and arrived to fly the 15-year-old boy to a hospital. However, he died from his injuries before being transported by ThedaStar.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office believes the shooting was accidental, but it remains under investigation.
