Farm to Table

Dinner tickets on sale Aug. 11

The second annual Farm to Table Dinner will be held Thursday, Aug. 31, in downtown Waupaca.

It will take place under a tent on East Fulton Street and will begin at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers and a social time.

The dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

The event will promote and celebrate local farmers, encourage the purchase of fresh and organic produce from local farmers and promote better community health.

Locally grown food of area farmers will be prepared by Waupaca restaurants.

The dinner will include appetizers, a salad, entrée and dessert.

Ninety tickets will be sold.

Tickets are $35 per person and go on sale Friday, Aug. 11, at the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce, with cash or check only.

Checks are payable to Living the Waupaca Way, the event’s sponsor.

Those wanting to see more events like this are welcome to pay an amount over the price of the ticket or to make a donation on the evening of the event.

Living the Waupaca Way is the result of a 2016 merger between two groups.

Those groups are the Waupaca County Nutrition and Activity Coalition (NuAct) and Waupaca Community Health Action Team’s (CHAT) healthy living work group.

Waupaca’s CHAT is made up of group of people from throughout the community who work together to understand local health issues.

NuAct formed in 2003 after childhood health, nutrition and inactivity surfaced as health concerns in the county.

Due to their common goals for the community, members of the two groups began meeting last year and decided to join efforts under a new name: Living the Waupaca Way.

The proceeds of the Aug. 31 dinner will benefit the group’s efforts, which include supporting the Farm to Table Dinner, Farm to School, Waupaca Farm Market and working with organizers of local events to help them provide healthier menu options.

The Aug. 31 Farm to Table Dinner will include silent auction items and a door prize.
