Sasse, Rose Mary

Rose Mary Sasse, age 84 of the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Thedacare Medical Center in New London.

Rose Mary was born on September 16, 1932 in Bear Creek as the daughter of the late John and Iva (Ritchie) Rhode. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1950 and was united in marriage to Allen Sasse on November 7, 1951 at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville. The couple resided in the Town of Matteson where Rose Mary served the township as treasurer for over 30 years as well as serving on the Waupaca County Board for many years. She loved to spend time with Allen and her family in the outdoors, especially at their cottage up north where she rarely turned down a chance to go fishing. Rose Mary was also an avid gardener and enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, bowling and feeding and watching her birds.

Survivors include: her children: Debra (Robert) Behnke, Jeffery Sasse, Peter (Jeannie) Sasse, Christina (William) Mueller, & Michael (Gretchen) Sasse, all of Clintonville; grandchildren: Jennifer Behnke, Brooke Behnke, Kandy Sasse, Julie (Brian) Stamm, Melissa (Steven) Radmer, Misty (Ted) Domers, and Alicia (Zachary) Zirbel; great-grandchildren: Jaden Reese, Hannah Domers, and Isaac Domers; sisters, Geraldine (Dennis) Kussmann, and Therese (Roger) Mauel; brothers, John (Laura Lee) and Dan Rhode; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Fae Sasse, Clintonville; Merritt Sasse, Clintonville; Gladys Du Mee’, Marion; Betty June Millard, Clintonville; and Mary Ann Romberg, Marion. Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen, a grandson Benjamin Sasse, brothers Jim and Tom Rhode, and sisters, Helen Fumelle Eastman, Rita Johnson, Jeanne Downham, Lorraine Long, and Elaine Smith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville with Rev. Jack Mullarkey and Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery, also in Clintonville. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Rose Mary’s family has asked that memorials be directed to the St. Rose Catholic School Tuition Fund in lieu of flowers.
