Phyllis Greve Morris of Iola passed away Thursday, September 7, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
Phyllis was 91 years old, born July 12, 1926 in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Otto and Rena (Siegrist) Greve. She married John Gordon Morris on February 12, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2010.
Phyllis attended the University of Minnesota and earned a bachelors degree in education; she later earned a masters degree in library sciences. She worked as a teacher, a librarian, and bookkeeper/office manager for John’s engineering firm; all the while she was a tireless mother in the work of raising six children. John and Phyllis made their homes in Ashland, Milwaukee, Lake Bluff (IL), Wheaton (IL), and retired to Iola in 1993. Phyllis was a longtime member of the Iola United Methodist Church, Garden Club and Historical Society.
She is survived by her children: Tom (Heide) Morris of Warrenville, IL; Pat DuChene of Iola, WI; Carol Copek of Wheaton, IL; Cathy Morris (Glen Doremire) of Kingston, WA; and Rob (Moira) Morris of Libertyville, IL. Also surviving are her son-in-law James Babb of Libertyville, IL; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jacqueline) Babb, Michael Babb, Lesley (David Loomer) Babb, Stephen (Anne Marie) Copek, Robyn Copek, Ian DuChene, Kathleen Morris, Erin Morris and Jack Morris; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Mila Babb. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara, and granddaughter, Lisa.
A service will be held at the Iola United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 11. Visitors are welcome beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be at a later date in Wheaton, Il. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Iola United Methodist Church. The Voie Funeral Home in Iola is handling the arrangements.
