Nurse faces narcotics charge

A woman is accused of stealing oxycodone from a nursing home.

Andrea D. Mackowiak, 45, Clintonville, is charged with felony possession of narcotics and misdemeanor theft.

According to the criminal complaint, Capt. Dennis Schroeder and Sgt. Chris Wendorf, with the Clintonville Police Department, began investigating a report of missing oxycodone from the Greentree Healthcare Center in August 2016.

They discovered that one of the nurses, Mackowiak, was documenting that she had administered oxycodone to a patient who said he did not actually receive the medication, the complaint says.

When Schroeder questioned her, Mackowiak reportedly admitted to taking oxycodone because she was experiencing pain.

Mackowiak is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Oct. 10.

Filed on Sept. 12, this is one of several old cases that are being cleared by prosecutors hired since District Attorney Veronica Isherwood took office.
