Comets tie Mosinee

Soccer team heading to Freedom

A late goal helped the Waupaca boys’ soccer team snap a three-game losing streak.

The Comets settled for a 1-1 nonconference tie with Mosinee Sept. 25 at Comet Field.

Waupaca also fell to New London and Middleton Sept. 23 in Waupaca and dropped a 7-2 North Eastern Conference game Sept. 19 to Luxemburg-Casco.

Mosinee opened the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute and the score remained 1-0 until Waupaca tied the game in the 85th minute.

At Waupaca, Mosinee settled for a tie with the Comets in a nonconference clash.

Middleton 4, Waupaca 1
Keenin Polebitski and Jack Snider gave the Comets a 2-0 first-half lead over New London, but the Bulldogs responded with four unanswered goals.

Ezekeil Tuchscherer cut the lead to 2-1 before halftime and Jason Sanderfoot, David Piotter and Tuchscherer scored in the second half.

Waupaca also fell 4-1 to Middleton’s varsity reserve team.

Snider scored both of Waupaca’s goals off of assists from Zack Thuerman.

Adam Arendt scored three goals for the Spartans.

Waupaca hosted Clintonville Sept. 26 and will travel to Freedom Thursday, Sept. 28, for a 4 p.m. North Eastern matchup with the Irish. The Comets will also host Pacelli at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Comet Field.
