Grenlie, Smokey

Smokey Grenlie, age 76 of Waupaca, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He was born on August 22, 1941 in Waupaca to Herbert and Marion (Larson) Grenlie. Smokey married Sandy Moak on February 7, 1998 in Las Vegas. Smokey owned and operated Smokey’s Standard Service and Car Wash, which was the first automatic car wash in Waupaca until 1989. He then worked at Waupaca Pallet until his retirement in 2005. Smokey also did maintenance work for the Town of Farmington from 2006 to 2016. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Smokey enjoyed hunting with his sons and closest friends, cutting firewood and running his sawmill, an occasional fishing trip up north with his buddies, taking rides around the countryside, spending time with family and friends and anyone stopping by to share an old fashion or two, watching football, his passion for his garden and sharing the produce, listening to George Jones and singing along to every single song! He had the biggest heart and welcomed all with open arms. Smokey was a legend of his own and had the quickest wit and humor of no other. His legacy will live on forever in anyone whose lives he touched. He will be missed by so many.
