Rades, Gary L.

Gary L. Rades, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI.

Gary was born on May 9, 1940 to the late Norman and Lucille (Madson) Rades in Shawano, WI. He graduated Wittenberg High School in 1958. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 8, 1958 and was honorable discharged on August 7, 1962. During his time in the service, he attended U.S.A.F. Communication School in Mississippi for Radio Relay Equipment Repairman. After Gary’s time in the service, he attended University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI for a year and then went to Wausau Technical Institute in Wausau, WI. Gary graduated in 1965, receiving an Associates degree in Electronic Technology. Gary then worked for Bendix Corporation in Ecuador, South America for 10 years and then moved to Merritt Island, FL and worked RCA at NASA Space Center as an electronic technician. Gary was a very outgoing and friendly person. He liked to engage people in conversation. Gary will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.

Gary is survived by his children: Frances (Joe) Harrigan, David (Susan) Rades, Danny (Nicole) Rades all of Orlando, FL; sister, Sandy (Peter) Laude of Waupaca, WI; grandchildren: Austin Rades, Conner Rades, Janelle Harrigan, Alexis Rades, Gavin Rades, and Kayla Rades. Gary is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27th at the Main Chapel at WI Veterans Home in King. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the nurses and staff at King for the care Gary received.
