Bar fight leads to charges

A Waupaca man allegedly punched a Weyauwega man in the face.

Bradley M. Volz, 24, Waupaca, was charged with substantial battery, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, Weyauwega Police Officer Justin Malueg was responded to a reported fight at the Brew Haus Bar on Main Street.

When he arrived, Malueg saw Adam Togstad outside the bar. Togstad’s face was bleeding and he was yelling profanities at other people on the street.

Malueg spoke with Volz, who said he had been sitting inside the bar, talking to Togstad, when Togstad began yelling at him.

Volz said he left the bar and accused Togstad of following him outside and grabbing him by the beard. He said another patron pulled Togstad away.

According to the criminal complaint, Volz denied hitting Togstad and attributed the injuries to Togstad’s face to his falling against the wall.

A woman told Malueg that she saw Volz punch Togstad while the two men were still in the bar.

A security video showed Volz walk up to Togstad at the bar, punch him in the face, then go outside, the complaint says.

Malueg also reported that Togstad was missing one of his front teeth.

Volz was released from custody after posting a $150 cash bond.

Togstad filed a personal injury suit against Volz on Nov. 13.
