Peeters, Donald “Don” G.

Donald “Don” G. Peeters, age 81 of Seymour, formerly of the Township of Maine, Outagamie County, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton with his loved ones at his side following a long courageous battle with cancer.

Donald Gordon Peeters was born on May 11, 1936 in the Town of Deer Creek as the son of the late John and Marjorie (Stilen) Peeters. Don graduated from Clintonville High School in 1954 and shortly after went on to serve his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany from 1959 – 1960. On May 6, 1961, he was united in marriage to Lois Freimuth. The couple resided on a farm in the Town of Maine their entire married lives; having just recently moved to Seymour. Aside from raising their four children, Don and Lois opened their hearts and home to numerous foster children during the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were proud to say they opened the first foster home for boys in Outagamie County. Don loved going to casinos, spending time with special friends at Hill Country RV Park in New Braunfels, TX, camping and spending time at “the 60”, playing with his grandchildren, his “Vitamins” aka wine, peanut M&Ms, and a good polka. He also enjoyed traveling with Lois and including several trips to Europe. He liked spending time up north where he was known as the “blackberry man” and rarely gave up his secret picking spots. Don was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek and lived his life as a Christian man who was a great provider and example for his family.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Lois; children: Donnie (Tammy Daul) Peeters, Cheryl (Paul) Benjamin, Greg (Jen) Peeters, and Cory (Carrie) Peeters; 10 grandchildren: Laura, Samantha, Jessica, Jonathan, Nicholas, Amber, Melissa, Alex, Colton, Cacy. nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: John (Dorothy) Peeters, Leland Peeters, Richard (Erma) Peeters, Jeanette (Wilfred) Theobald, and Jim (Fran) Peeters. Also numerous other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, John Peeters and Marjorie Peeters-Eulrich.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek with Fr. Jack Mullarkey and Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery with military honors conducted by members of the Clintonville American Legion Post #63, VFW Post #664, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #63. Friends may call at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory in Clintonville on Monday from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
