Thompson, Lois Mae

Lois Mae Thompson, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2017.

She was born May 31, 1931 in Scandinavia, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Herbert and Bertha (Helgeson) Jenson. On September 29, 1951, Lois married Leland Thompson at Scandinavia Lutheran Church. She worked as a bank teller for 24 years. Later she worked for Anderson LLC before becoming a licensed CNA, ending her working years as a home health care therapy assistant. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca serving on the Altar Guild and assisting with the Annual Potato Pancake Supper. She was a retired member of the Waupaca Fire Department Auxiliary. She had many interests and hobbies, including bowling, fishing, snowmobiling, and family vacations. She treasured her Canadian fishing trips each summer. Her true passion was spending time with her family; they enjoyed board games, shaking dice, and playing cards. She loved to cook and was well-known for her baking abilities which included her infamous Special K bars, Norwegian baked goods, and donuts. She was a sports enthusiast watching baseball, football and golf. Her smile was contagious as she spread joy to all she encountered.

Survivors include her husband, Leland Thompson; her children: Ted, (Julie) Thompson, Waupaca; Tim (Kathy) Thompson, West Salem; Tom “Bomber” Thompson, Waupaca; Tamara (Greg) Hansen, Green Bay; Troy Thompson (Ken Kamrowski), Henderson, NV; and Tricia (Jerry) Deuman, Waupaca; grandchildren: Erin (Joshua) Podvin, Winterville, GA; Lindsey (Christopher) Slack, Roswell, GA; Samantha (William) Percoski, Las Vegas, NV; Seth Deuman, La Crosse, and Brady Deuman, Stevens Point; five great-grandsons, and one great-grandchild due in March; siblings: Donna Swenson, Reuben (Jane) Jenson, Herbert (Joyce) Jenson, sister-in-law, Mona Raimann, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Jean Oehlke; brothers-in-law, Vern Oehlke, James Swenson, Herbert Tesch, and Robert Raimann, and sister-in-law, Lulu Tesch.

Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 with Reverend Andy Behrendt officiating. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 23 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Trinity Lutheran Church. The Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
