Amy S. Schoenick (nee Laskoski), age 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2018 at The Waterford Assisted Living in Oshkosh, WI.
Amy grew up in the Milwaukee area and lived in several Wisconsin cities, as well as in Honolulu, Hawaii for a few years. She truly lived her life the way she wanted – a little rough around the edges, but a heart of Gold! She fiercely loved her two sons and extended family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren. Amy had an uncanny ability to always be the life of the party. Towards the end, the sad and debilitating disease Frontotemporal Degeneration took hold. She was well cared for, for almost four years in Oshkosh and did enjoy the simple pleasures of life her last few years. You could find Amy chatting and visiting with family and friends (oh that laugh of hers!), snacking (sweets and cheeseburgers were her favorite) and walking outside when she could (you couldn’t stop her on a sunny day!). She will be greatly missed by many.
Amy is survived by her sons, Damion (Sarah), and Maxwell; grandchildren Haily, Chelsea, Jon, Broday, Johannah, and Bentley. Further survived by sister Marie McMurray of California, brother Peter J. (Victoria) Laskoski of Brookfield, WI, brother John (Patricia) of Greendale, WI, sister Suzanne May of Bay View, WI and brother Malcolm May of California; and also by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her younger brother William Laskoski, and her parents, Peter H. Laskoski and Jocelyn May. Many thanks to the caregivers at The Waterford.
We will be having a Celebration of Life for Amy from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home on May 31, 2018. Memorial Service will follow at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Waterford in Oshkosh or the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration are appreciated.
