Wins haven’t exactly been adding up for the Waupaca and Clintonville girls’ basketball teams.

The Comets and Truckers came into their North Eastern Conference rematch at Waupaca High School Jan. 15 with a combined record of 3-18.

Clintonville followed up a victory over the Comets earlier this season with a 36-25 win.

The Truckers took a 17-12 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Comets quickly cut the deficit to 17-16, but Clintonville’s Chelsey Birling answered with a three-pointer and a basket to push the lead back to six. Waupaca never got any closer than three points the rest of the way.

Nine of the Truckers’ final 11 points of the game came at the free-throw line.

Birling led all scorers with 14 points, while Seattle Lettau led Waupaca with 10.

The Comets played a makeup game Jan. 16 in Wrightstown and will host Luxemburg-Casco at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18.
