Hortonville falls to Appleton West

Welson scores 18 in loss

The Polar Bears were defeated by Appleton West 55-48 at home on Friday, Jan. 19.

Hortonville was led by Jay Welson, who tied for a game-high 18 points in the loss.

Welson scored the first two points of the game, and it was tied at 14 with three minutes left in the first half before Appleton West took a 19-17 lead going into halftime.

The Terrors scored the first five points of the second half for a seven-point lead, but Hortonville came back and tied the game at 31 with 10 minutes left.

Appleton West pulled away for a 41-34 lead, and the Polar Bears were unable to come back.

Jayqon Owens scored 10 points for Hortonville, and Cole Warning added eight.

The Polar Bears dropped to 4-9 overall this season including 4-7 in the Fox Valley Association for a tie for sixth place in the conference.
