Melum hits game winner

Hannah Melum’s three-pointer with 10 seconds on the clock gave the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team a 58-57 overtime win over Pacelli Jan. 30.
The Thunderbirds trailed 30-21 at halftime and outscored the visitors 29-20 in the second half.
The Cardinals led 50-48 late in the game. With 6 seconds remaining and the full length of the floor to navigate, Bryanna Kisting found Payton Wester under the hoop for a basket to send the game into overtime at the buzzer.
The teams exchanged baskets in the extra period before Melum’s three-pointer erased Pacelli’s two-point lead.
Bryanna Kisting led all scorers with 22 points and she also dished out four assists. Melum scored all 15 of her points on five three-pointers; Emilie Briquelet added 10 points and 12 rebounds; Wester had six rebounds and three steals to go along with four points; Erika Kisting dished out five assists; and Kaitlyn Miller scored five points.
Amanda Klasinski led the Cardinals with 15 points, while Sarah Mueller added 14 and Emma Van Order and Jenelle Higgins finished with 11 each.
Iola-Scandinavia will host Weyauwega-Fremont at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1.
