By Greg Seubert

Waupaca High School’s dance team will soon find itself in a familiar place.

The team is heading back to the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches Association’s State Dance Championships, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3, at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse.

The team, consisting of three seniors, six juniors, four sophomores and 12 freshmen, qualified for state after placing first in Division 3 Pom and second in Division 2 Jazz Jan. 27 at a regional competition at Wausau East High School.

The team has won 11 state championships since 2008 and entered last year’s state competition as the four-team defending Division 3 Pom champion. The team placed second behind New Berlin Eisenhower in Division 3 Pom and fourth behind Prescott, Onalaska and Eisenhower in Division 2 Jazz.
