Gast, Larry J.

Larry J. Gast, age 65, of Clintonville passed away Thursday morning, February 15, 2018 at Care Partners Assisted Living, Clintonville.

Larry James Gast was born on October 16, 1952 in Clintonville to Wilbert and Esther (Glass) Gast. He was baptized, confirmed, and attended St. Martin Lutheran School. Larry graduated from Clintonville High School in 1971. Then he went on to Fox Valley Technical College, Oshkosh, earning an associate’s degree in Electronics. Larry was married to Kayleen Krueger for some time and they were blessed with a daughter Lacey. He was employed for over 20 years at FWD Corporation in Clintonville. Larry was a skilled aluminum welder and he also did some finish grinding and cutting of parts at Seagrave Fire Apparatus. Larry was a lifelong member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville. In his early years, he liked flying radio controlled model airplanes. He was a motorcycle guy and owned several bikes throughout his life, but his favorite was a Moto Guzzi V7 Sport 750. Larry went on some incredible motorcycle trips to different states with family and friends. He also had a green thumb and grew the biggest vegetables in his garden. Larry enjoyed Cajun music and dancing; and he made a number of trips to Lafayette, Louisiana.

Survivors include a daughter, Lacey (friend Kevin Hoffmann) Gast of Appleton; and two brothers, Ron (Linda) Gast of Clintonville and Ben (Pam) Gast of Greenville. There is one nephew, Ken Gast, and two nieces, Nicole and Emily Gast. Larry is further survived by many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Rev. Christian Burg will officiate and burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.org).

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at ThedaCare Medical Center, New London, for the excellent care provided. We also wish to thank all the staff at Care Partners for the love and compassion given to Larry.
