City staff to fix roof

Contractor not needed for rec center repairs

By Bert Lehman

The city of Clintonville will not have to hire a contractor to repair a leak in the roof of the city’s rec center building.

Parks and Recreation Director Justin Mc Auly first informed the Parks and Recreation Committee about the leak at the committee’s January meeting.

When the committee met Feb. 27, Mc Auly informed committee members that when he took a closer look at the roof, he determined that city employees can make the proper repairs.

Mc Auly said an area of the roof that is 3 feet by 5 feet needs to be repaired.

“It will be a matter of lifting the shingles up and probably cutting an area big enough were we can get a piece of OSB down, and then put your tar paper [down], and then put shingles over that patch job,” Mc Auly said.

He added that he has not noticed a lot of water recently leaking into the building.

Mc Auly also informed the committee that it is his opinion that the current roof has 10 to 12 years of life left in it.

“If we do decide to move forward with keeping this building, that roof is going to have to be looked at,” Mc Auly said.
