Hope was born on September 5, 1918 in Tilleda, Wisconsin, to Rev. E.C.F. and Mabel (Schelen) Stubenvoll. She was brought into God’s family through the waters of baptism on September 19, 1918. In 1932 she was confirmed by her father, Rev. Stubenvoll. She was a graduate of the Clintonville High School. On April 22, 1939, Hope was united in marriage to Eugene Dexter at Christus Lutheran Church by her father, Rev. Stubenvoll. The couple lived in Clintonville most of their married life. Eugene preceded his wife in death on August 31, 2004. Hope had worked briefly at the FWD Corporation and then as a sculptor, ceramist and writer for more than 50 years. Hope was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clintonville, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, on Altar Guild, and with the Ladies Christian Fellowship. Hope’s greatest interest was in sharing God’s word so that the Holy Spirit might take root and provide the same peace she had in the knowledge that Jesus’s suffering and death was the complete payment for everyone’s sins and that all who trust in Him could also live their eternal life in infinite joy in God their Father’s heavenly kingdom.
