Event raises funds for Manawa trails

The Little Wolf River Trails Organization is planning the 10th anniversary Stampede, a 5k/10k walk/run to raise money for building trails in Manawa.
According to Ann Wade, who helps organize the event, there has been significant change over the years.
“In the beginning, we started and ended at the rodeo grounds only using a portion of the trail system. We now start and end at Lindsay Park in Manawa,” she said. “It was also just a timed race and now is chipped timed.”
Registration has already begun for the Stampede, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 30.
“Participants can start registering now on Active.com or 2018 Stampede 5k/10k walk/run org and print off a mail-in form,” said Wade.
Registration may also take place the day of the event.
In order to secure a T-shirts, runners must register by June 15.
The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. After June 15, costs will increase by $5.
This year, all participants will be entered in drawings for giveaways.
As in past years, the Stampede will also hold a T-shirt design contest.
“The winning design will go on our 2018 runner’s shirts,” Wade said. “To enter, go to Little Wolf River Trails Organization on Facebook or send to Little Wolf River Trail Committee, P.O. Box 121, Manawa, WI 54949.”
Entries must be received by May 1.
The winner will receive $25, a T-shirt and entry to the race.
Wade thanked those who have donated time, materials and money to the trail project.
“Remember no tax dollars are used for the building of these trails,” she said. “The committee is a nonprofit organization that raises funds by hosting the annual Stampede Run/Walk and has an active gofund.me account. If you’ve experienced in the Manawa trail system or like what you see, please donate or join our committee.”
