Shiocton edges I-S

Girls second, boys third

Shiocton edged Iola-Scandinavia’s girls’ track team by a half-point to win a three-team indoor meet March 22 at Seymour High School.

Team scores for the girls were Shiocton (42.5), Iola-Scandinavia (42) and Seymour (34.5). Team scores for the boys were Seymour (50), Shiocton (45) and Iola-Scandinavia (41).

First-place finishes for the girls’ team went to Payton Wester, long and triple jumps (12 feet, 11 inches and 31 feet, 1 1/2 inches); Ana Holder, shot put (28 feet, 1 inch); Erika Kisting, 400-meter dash (1:12.5); Natalie Rustad, 800-meter run (3:18.8); and the 1,600-meter relay team of Jada Beacom, Emilie Briquelet, Sammie Glad and Kisting (5:01).

Other placers included Glad, second, 400; Kaitlyn Miller, second, 200-meter hurdles and third, 55-meter hurdles; Briquelet, second, long jump; Haley Ullom, third, 55-meter dash, and fourth, shot put; Beacom, third, 400; Lecin Turget, fourth, 55 dash; and the 800-meter relay team of Briquelet, Glad, Ullom and Turget, third.

Firsts for the Thunderbird boys went to Will Cady, triple jump (37 feet, 7 inches); Jalen Block, high jump (5 feet, 10 inches); Joe Makovec, 800-meter run (2:28.3); the 800 relay team of Kyle Beske, Caden Prahl, Cady and Block (1:49); and the 1,600 relay team of Block, Cady, Erick Kriewaldt and Prahl (4:12).

Other placers included Austin Piotter, second, 55 dash; Cady, second, long jump; Jack Kraemer, third, 55 dash, and fourth, 200 hurdles; Erik Grenlie, third, 800 run, and sixth, long jump; Kriewaldt, third, 400 dash; Tyler Bricco, fourth, 400 dash, and sixth, triple jump; Noah Olson, fourth, 55 hurdles; Brye Hardel, fourth, shot put; Prahl, fourth, triple jump; Kellan Wandtke, fifth, shot put; Garret Brown, fifth, long jump; Zach Mallo, fifth, 400 dash; Austin Buss, sixth, shot put; the 1,600 meter relay team of Olson, Mallo, Grown and Piotter, fourth; the 800 relay team of Hardel, Olson, Ryan Finch and Piotter, fourth; and the 800 relay team of Wandtke, Buss, Hayden Nelson and Kraemer, fifth.

The T-Birds are scheduled to compete against Almond Bancroft, Gresham/Bowler, Port Edwards, Starr Academy, Tri-County, Wild Rose and Wisconsin Valley Lutheran Thursday, April 5, at Tri-County High School in Plainfield. Events will get underway at 3:45 p.m.
