Woods, Joan E.

Joan Elizabeth Woods, age 84, formerly of New London entered life in the arms of her Heavenly Father on March 31, 2018 at Shawano Health Services in Shawano.

She was born August 9, 1933 in New London, WI, daughter of the late John and Marjorie (Genske) Trambauer Sr. Joan grew up on her folks’ rural New London farm, where she developed a love for animals, especially horses, dogs and cats. Joan attended Emanuel Lutheran School and was confirmed in 1947. She graduated from South Broward High School, in Dania, FL in 1951, where she lived with her grandparents. Joan stayed in Florida until 1970, then returned to Wisconsin and worked at Hillshire Farms in New London for 14 years as a supervisor on the multi-vac packaging line. Joan also helped her brother John Trambauer bartend at the Bean City Ballroom, which he owned. Joan loved her pontoon boat, and fishing at her cottage on Shawano Lake. She also enjoyed going to Anello’s for “Happy Hour”, visiting the casino and cooking her “secret recipe BBQ ribs”. During the winter months Joan could be found riding trails on her Yamaha Exciter snowmobile. Joan worked for the Shawano Evening Leader for 16 years delivering the “penny shoppers”. She often said her 1000+ subscribers were like family to her.

Joan is survived by a sister-in-law, Marlene Trambauer, New London; niece, Lisa (Jeff) Stevens; nephew, John III (Michelle) Trambauer; niece, Shiela (Karl) Otto, Appleton and their children, Nicole (Michael) McCormick, Stephanie (Michael) Stoegbauer, Alexandria (Andrew) Minster, Michaela Otto and Nathan Otto. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
