Driver faces 7th OWI

A man sitting in a parked pickup was arrested for drunken driving.

Kevin D. Moericke, 40, Clintonville, was charged with a seventh offense of operating while intoxicated and with operating while revoked.

Moericke is currently in custody on a $4,000 cash bond.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Krueger was dispatched to a home on the N11000 block of Graetz Road in the town of Larrabee.

According to the criminal complaint, the caller said everyone at the house was drunk and they would not allow Moericke to have his property.

When Krueger arrived, he spoke to a 40-year-old man who said his younger brother had thrown him out of the house and locked the doors.

Krueger offered to give him a ride to Clintonville.

The deputy then made contact with the man behind the wheel of a pickup truck in a neighbor’s driveway.

After identifying the man as Moericke, Krueger asked him if he had been drinking.

Moericke replied that it was probably too much, the complaint says.

A preliminary breath test indicated that Moericke had a 0.24 blood-alcohol content.

Moericke’s record indicates he has six prior drunken driving offense, including two in 2013.

His driver’s license was revoked on Sept. 24, 2013, and has not been reinstated, the complaint says.
