Hoier, Rose J.

Rose Josephine (Young) Hoier, age 82, of Hortonville passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at AMC with her family by her side.

She was born on March 23, 1936 in Maple Creek. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Lucille Young. Growing up Rose worked on her family farm and also babysat many children. On May 10, 1958 she married Gerald Hoier at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bear Creek. Together they had six children whom they raised on their family farm. After their children grew up she continued to care for her grandchildren and other individual’s children up until the past few years. She loved visitation time with family and friends, playing Yahtzee with anyone willing to join, playing cards with her husband before he passed this recent August, and enjoyed snowmobiling with her husband where they were charter members of the Polar Bear Riders Snowmobile Club. Gerald and Rose were a part of the Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church community.

Rose is survived by her children: Donna (Gary) Weiland, Donald (Bonnie) Hoier, Dan Hoier, Gerald Jr. (special friend Tracy) Hoier, Sue (Bob) Quella, Beth (Rob Stiles) Hoier; 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Roland (Barb) Young and sister Karen Dorow; sisters-in-law, Ruth Young, Jeannie Hoier, and brother-in-law Ronald (Geri) Hoier; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald; her parents; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Marion Hoier; brothers and sisters-in-law: Edwin, John, Eugene (Joyce), Robert, Leo (Nancy), Raymond (June) Hoier, Eldren Young and Carol (Ken) Wynboom; granddaughter Jennifer Rose Hoier; nieces and nephews: Kathy, Rodney, Mike and Jack Hoier and Terry and Marty Young.

The Funeral Mass for Rose will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville. Visitation will be held at the Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Friday, April 27th from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Rose’s family would like to give special thanks to the Hortonville Police Department, the First Responders on scene and the Gold Cross Ambulance, all of the staff at AMC, Parish Director Greg Layton with the Ss. Peter & Paul Parish Community, and all the friends and relatives for their moral support, prayers, and food for the family during this difficult time.
