W-F drops three

Indians split with Shiocton

After opening the season with seven straight wins, the Weyauwega-Fremont softball team now has a 7-3 record.

The Indians fell to 3-2 April 30 to Shiocton after shutting out the Chiefs 4-0 April 24.
W-F also dropped games to Mosinee and Whitnall April 28.

Shiocton 3, W-F 2
The Chiefs broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Winning pitcher Cassidy Defferding held the Indians to three hits.

Shiocton scored in the bottom half of the first inning, but W-F tied the game with a run in the third. The Chiefs took a 2-1 lead with a run in the sixth, but the Indians tied the game for a second time in the top of the seventh.

Cadyn Ehrenberg and Rylee Bartel drove in runs for the Indians. Ehrenberg, Makena McClone and Alexa Greening had hits. Kiley Akey took the loss on the mound in relief of Ehrenberg.

Mosinee 7, W-F 4
A five-run fifth inning helped Mosinee overcome a 4-2 deficit.

W-F trailed 2-1 heading into the fifth inning, but scored three times in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
Ehrenberg and McClone had two of the Indians’ seven hits, while Taylor Folk and Julia Rice had doubles.

Whitnall 4, W-F 2
Whitnall took a 4-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and single runs in the third and fifth before the Indians came up with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Ehrenberg took the loss for the Indians, but also had two of her team’s five hits.

W-F 4, Shiocton 0
Akey held the Chiefs without a hit and struck out 12 batters.

Greening had to of the Indians’ four hits.

The Indians will head to Bonduel Thursday, May 3, for a doubleheader before heading to Iola Monday, May 7, for a 4:30 p.m. matchup with Iola-Scandinavia.
