She was born on March 21, 1937 in Appleton, WI, the daughter of the late George and Marie (Krueger) VanderZanden. On February 13, 1960, Norene married Leon Danke at Holy Spirit Church in Kimberly. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2010. Norene was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega She loved crocheting, reading books and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed taking weekly bus trips to the casino with her friends. Norene is survived by a son, Dennis (Kathy), New London; two daughters, Dawn (Tim) Lemke, Fremont and Debra (Rollie) Hermes, Weyauwega; seven grandchildren: Kerri (Shawn), Jessica (Nate), Ryan (Kate), Heather (Brian), Melissa (Shane), Logan “Leon” and Sheridan; seven great-grandchildren: Bella, Nolan, Lila, Ella, Eva, Leon and Chase; four sisters, Lila “Dickie” Schumacher, Diane Wirth, Joyce (Beetle) Much and Lynn Oatman; three brothers, George VanderZanden, Allan (Samantha) VanderZanden, and David (Pam) VanderZanden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton (Barb) Danke, Elvera Kent and Donna (Dave) Pagel; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Haas; brothers and sisters-in-law: Owen, Nathan and Arden Danke, Myra Magolski, Sylvia Ruppel and David Kent.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 608 E. Main St., Weyauwega. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Readfield. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established. The Lewin Funeral Home in Fremont is assisting the family.
Norene will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
