The Manawa Area Veterans Freedom Shoot 2018 raised more than $7,000 for the park.

The event took place Saturday, May 19 at the Manawa Gun Club.

“It turned out to be a beautiful day,” Manawa Mayor John Smith said. “We had 36 shooters participate in the shoot and 70 people for the banquet.”

Proceeds will help the Manawa Area Veterans Freedom Park move closer to completion.

The next event will be the Little Wolf Adventure Triathlon slated for June 16.

Competitors will kayak 1.4 miles, bike 11.5 miles and run 3.1 miles.

The competition will begin at 9 a.m. at the Manawa Area Veterans Freedom Park.

Registration for individuals or teams will remain open until 8:30 a.m. the day of the triathlon.

Online registration can be done by visiting www.tandhtiming.com.

Individual entry fee is $60 and team entry is $80. There will be a limit of 150 registrants.

Awards will be given for the top participants in each age group and all registrants will receive a T-shirt.

“This is something new to the area and we will be able to show off many of the beautiful offerings we have in our community,” said Smith. “We look forward to another successful fundraising event and hope to see you all at the finish line cheering, while enjoying a brat or burger.”
