Child-sex charges filed

Suspect currently in prison for earlier conviction

Matthew W. Alexander, 33, Oshkosh Correctional, is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement, exposing intimate parts to a child and possession of child pornography.

On April 11, 2017, Waupaca Police Officer Diana Flatoff spoke with a 13-year-old girl who said her mother’s boyfriend sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions.

According to the criminal complaint, the assaults occurred at night while her mother was at work.

After one of the incidents, the girl went into the bathroom and began crying.

Alexander allegedly told the girl she could not tell anybody what happened or he would get into trouble.

She told police that Alexander also tried to convince her he didn’t do anything.

Waupaca Police Officer Sam Van Dinter conducted a forensics analysis of Alexander’s cell phone and reported finding 63 images of child porn.

On Sept. 6, 2017, Marathon County Circuit Court revoked Alexander’s probation and sentenced him to three years in state prison and three years of extended supervision.

Alexander had been placed on probation on Oct. 23, 2015, for a felony conviction of intimidating a victim with a threat of force.
