Michonski brothers continue to shine in IMCA Stock Car division
Whether it is chasing feature wins or the IMCA Stock Car track championship, Dan and Nate Michonski have put together a spectacular season at Shawano Speedway. Dan didn’t make his first appearance this year at Shawano Speedway until mid-July, but he won the feature his first night out. Since that win, he has won three more features, including last week. He leads the division in feature wins with four.
Nate Michonski doesn’t have as many feature wins as his brother, but he is on the verge of winning his first IMCA Stock Car track championship at Shawano Speedway. Nate finished second to Dan in the feature last week, while Rod Snellenberger, who is second in points, finished third. Nate was able to add one point to his point lead, so he now leads Snellenberger by 16 points.
Meet the 2011 Shawano Speedway track champions
The 2011 Shawano Speedway regular race season ended the same way it began – with a cancellation because of the weather. With the cancellation being on the final point night of the year, the 2011 track championships go to the drivers who were leading their respective divisions at the time of the cancellation.
Congratulations go out to Ron Berna (WISSOTA Late Model), Jason Czarapata (IMCA Modified), Nate Michonski (IMCA Stock Car), Dave Fieber (FASTRK Late Model) and Clint Forsnter (IMCA Northern SportMod) for the track championships in their respective divisions.
Family effort nets Michonski first track championship
Prior to the 2011 race season at Shawano Speedway Nate Michonski of Clintonville wasn’t planning on racing the entire season.
“As the season got closer and we began getting the car ready, and with the rainouts at the beginning of the season, that’s when we decided we were going to run the whole season,” Michonski said.
