After being delayed for three weeks, due to a brutal spring, Mother Nature finally relented and brought enough good weather to the area to allow Shawano Speedway to get its 2011 race season underway on Saturday, May 7. Once again there was a rumble in the air, the ground shook, and the dirt flew at Shawano Speedway.
It turned out to be another washout for local racing last weekend. Luxemburg Speedway and the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway were able to get their racing programs in on Friday night, but the local tracks that race on Saturday and Sunday night had to cancel their racing programs because of the rainy weather over the weekend.
I made the trip to Luxemburg Speedway on Friday night. It was only the second race night Luxemburg Speedway has been able to complete this year. Just like Shawano Speedway, clay was added to Luxemburg Speedway during the offseason which has made things a bit more difficult getting the track ready during the wet spring we are having.
