For awhile on Saturday night it looked like another new driver was going to add his name to the feature wins list at Shawano Speedway. Life can throw you a curveball sometimes and racing isn’t immune to those same curveballs.
There are many things that I enjoy about local stock car racing. I guess that should be a given considering the time I spend going to local tracks — not just Shawano Speedway. One of my favorite things, though, about local stock car racing is witnessing a driver win their first-ever feature in a division or at a track.
I usually miss a couple of weeks of racing each year at Shawano Speedway and last Saturday was one of those weeks. From the photos I have seen from Saturday night, and the posts on the Shawano Speedway Forum website, it appears that I missed a wild week of racing.
It took a month and a half, but Shawano Speedway was finally able to get its second week of racing in the books. It was a great night of racing, with 103 cars on hand as well as a nice-sized crowd.
It turned out to be another washout for local racing last weekend. Luxemburg Speedway and the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway were able to get their racing programs in on Friday night, but the local tracks that race on Saturday and Sunday night had to cancel their racing programs because of the rainy weather over the weekend.
