Student suspended for bringing gun to school
A Waupaca High School student faces expulsion for allegedly bringing a handgun to school Tuesday.
At 3:30 p.m., a student told high school administrators that a female student had a gun in her handbag while she was at school.
By the time the gun was reported, the student had left school.
District Administrator Dave Poeschl said police were notified and they went to the girl’s home to investigate the report. They found a .40-caliber handgun that matched the description given to administrators.
"We believe the weapon was on school grounds, even though we didn’t see it," Poeschl said, noting that the student who reported the gun provided a detailed description that matched the .40-caliber handgun that police found at the girl’s home.
"At no time was there any indication the student was intending to use the handgun," Poeschl said. "Nor is there any evidence the handgun was displayed outside of the student’s handbag."
The student has been suspended pending an expulsion hearing before the Waupaca School Board.
"The district’s best defense against dangerous behaviors is fellow students being vigilant and reporting all potentially dangerous situations," Poeschl said. "It was a student who reported this incident to authorities and we need to recognize his decision to do the right thing."
The student who reported seeing the gun will be eligible for the Quick $50 reward offered by Waupaca County Crimestoppers.

Hmm I want to make a quick $50 so if I say that "student A" had a weapon and brought it to school I will get it?

It wasn't Jesus who brought a gun to school; nor I suspect, was it the Virgin Mary.

No, but lawyer Johnson would probably get $50/month from you - for the next 4 years; after he got your false police report charge plead down to disorderly conduct.

Not on school property.
It's the classmate's word against the girl and nobody else can corraobrate either's story.
Yeah, what a hassle. Next time, the classmate should remember to wait until 2 teachers and 8 students were dead, and then tell somebody.

So are you saying that because the girl allegedly brought a gun to school she should be expelled, no proof just accusation. This could be a simple case of someone wanting to get even as General M pointed out earlier. How sweet to get someone expelled with only words and no proof. Ever heard of the Salem Witch Trials?
I also wonder why, when there are plenty of opportunities during a school day to anonymously report the gun, why the person waited until 3:30pm (per the report)? Could it be because there was no gun and the "reporter" just wanted to cause trouble? A higher more sophisticated level of bullying? We may never find out due to the kids ages but I hope a life isn't destroyed due to bullying or petty revenge.

If a life is destroyed, then you can blame the parent(s) who thought it was important to have a handgun in the house, but didn't think it was important to keep it locked up.
The cops did go to her house and the cops did find a gun that exactly matched the description given by the classmate. Of course, there were probably 4 handguns in the house that didn't match the description.

But the MAIN point is brought up by apple73 as well.... How about the parents???? What is going to happen to them???? I know a family in a neighboring town who's kid pointed a toy guy at a close friend just jokingly. The kid who was pointed at knew it was a toy but was also a spoiled kid who loved creating drama to get Mommy's attention. Well Mommy raised a fuss with the police and the other kids parents got in all kinds of trouble even though it was a TOY.... Jump forward to today.... it's a REAL GUN!!! Apparently not locked up, even though I'm not sure of that so I won't assume like so many else are. The parents are the main ones who should be looked at.. And back to the kid, why on earth would you bring a gun to school????? To scare someone,,,, How about that for bullying????? You're so quick to call the kid that reported it a bully, how about the (again alleged) kid who brought it???? That's why America is in the crapper. No one is held responsible for anything anymore!! I didn't do it. It wasn't me!!! If I did, there's 1000 reasons why it's not my fault!! Take responsibility for your own actions!!! And hold these parents accountable... We don't know all the facts of the case yet as far as the kids, but we KNOW the parents had a GUN available to a student!!!!!!

NYK are you kidding me???? Before you get anything close to the whole story you are calling for them to just let it go??? What if your kid went to that school???? What if something actually DID happen??? Would you still want this kid to just be left alone??

If this is a graduate of the school in question, perhaps we should solve all our problems and save millions of dollars by closing the school.
"expells" = it's one L, genius
"an ounce of brain" = apparently, 2 ounces is just dead weight
"their balls" = enough said
