Fatal crash on State 161
An 82-year-old Waupaca man was killed in a crash shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, April 22, in the town of Union. The driver was eastbound on State Highway 161 at Flater Road when he entered the south shoulder, over-corrected, slid sideways across the intersection and back into the south ditch. The vehicle struck a pole on the driver’s side, spun and came to rest on the driver’s side. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department is not releasing the name of the victim pending notification of his family.
