Strawberry Fest set for June 16
Celebrate the start of summer with live music, arts and crafts, wagon rides, children’s activities and lots of fresh strawberries and strawberry shortcake. The 24th annual Strawberry Fest is slated from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 16, in downtown Waupaca. Sponsored by the Waupaca Area chamber of Commerce, the event includes a taste of Waupaca in Strawberry Lane Café, an arts & craft show featuring artisans from across the Midwest, a Strawberry Shortcake Eating Contest at noon and a children’s costume contest. a show by Dizzy D Clown, bounce houses, face painting, games and Animal Haven Zoo. Michael Murphy and the MOB will perform traditional and original blues and Cowboy & Buffalo Stomp will play country-rock music. Strawberry Days’ activities at Turners Fresh Market will take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and include hayrides to the field for pick strawberries, a children’s berry smile photo contest, barrel train rides and chocolate covered strawberries. The Waupaca Historical Society will host an open house at the Waupaca Railroad Depot with a bake sale and the Model Railroad Show will be held at the Waupaca Recreation Center.
