Grass fire near New London
New London firefighters spent more than three hours battling a marsh fire Sunday, July 8. When firefighters arrived at 3 p.m., they found nearly 10 acres of burning grass in a heavily wooded area located in the town of Liberty. The property is located off Bonnin Road about one mile south of State Highway 54 in Outagamie County. According to Capt. Don Conat with the New London Fire Department, a relative of the property owner attempted to burn off a small area of grass but lost control of the blaze when it spread into some tall canary grass.
