Stores show artistic side
Area businesses will show their artistic side during two upcoming chalking events. Retailers that are a part of the "Waupaca, King & In Between" retailers group are invited to "Chalking with Jamie Brown" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the corner of Main and Fulton streets in downtown Waupaca. Brown, who will be the featured chalk artist at this year’s Arts on the Square, will teach the business owners about chalk art. They will then get to participate in the creation of a large chalk art piece that will be located on that corner, just outside of the Phantom Art Gallery. Businesses will then participate in "Chalk O’ the Town" during the week of Aug. 12 and will chalk on the sidewalk outside of their shops. That event is being held on the days leading up to the annual Arts on the Square, which this year, is Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 18, on the city square.
