Rotary hosts Oktoberfest
Waupaca Breakfast Rotary Club will celebrate Oktoberfest from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, Aug. 31, at the Waupaca Ale The event features music by The Charlie Justman Band from 6-9 p.m. and the Mark Little Band at 9 p.m. Tickets are available at the Waupaca Ale House, the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce or any Waupaca Rotary member. Tickets cost $10 per person and include beer or wine samples, and the first 300 people in the door will receive a commemorative glass. There will be over 16 different beers to sample and purchase, and numerous wines for sampling and purchase. Waupaca Ale House will also be serving German ethnic foods at the event. Other activities include Raffle Prizes and Hammer-Schlagen with winners receiving prizes. "Oktoberfest is one of our key fundraisers during the year, benefiting many great programs for youth in the community" said Charlie Justman, chairman of the event. "The event has been very successful in the past with everyone having a great time while raising money for important projects in the community." The event is sponsored by Waupaca Breakfast Rotary and proceeds are primarily used for local programs benefiting youth. Local Rotary projects include the Rotary Youth Exchange, the Rotary education grant program , United Reading for Success, fourth grade math tutoring, dictionary donations for area third graders, Rotary Riverview Park and Waupaca Middle School Service above Self Awards.
