Horse & Buggy Days parade set for Sept. 15
The 52nd annual Horse & Buggy Days will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, in downtown Weyauwega. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and will feature horses, wagons, buggies and tractors. Registration and the lineup for the parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., at the Waupaca County Fairgrounds, before heading down Elizabeth Street to Main Street. Weyauwega-Fremont High School choral students will be selling water and soda along the parade route to raise funds for their trip to Hawaii this December. The students will be among students from throughout the United States who honor veterans at the 50th anniversary of the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. Downtown businesses will be selling food and refreshments on the sidewalk and are the only ones who may do so as part of the event. There will also be craft vendors, and others interested in selling crafts are also invited to participate. It is not necessary for craft vendors to pre-register; they may simply show up on the day of the event. In conjunction with Horse & Buggy Days, the Weyauwega Area Historical Society will also be hosting two events that day. Immediately following the parade, the historical society will have a cemetery walk at Oakwood Cemetery. The cemetery walk, which is open to the public, will be held from approximately 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, the Little Red Schoolhouse will be open in the community’s park from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be the last day it is open for the year.
