Robert Peter Fischer and Judith Agnes (Hutchison) Fischer met at UW-LaCrosse. Bob had gone to visit his brother Tom from Kenosha, WI and met Judy at a party. After graduation from college, Judy moved to Kenosha to work at Lincoln Junior High School as a physical education teacher. Bob and Judy began a relationship and were engaged within three weeks. They were married November 23, 1961 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London.
Bob enjoyed softball and basketball in the early years of their marriage as well as bowling. Bob joined the Army for two years at the age of 18, worked for Kencrete and AMC before attending Devry Institute to obtain a job at AT&T. He retired at age 58.
Bob now volunteers at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in New London and has a small vineyard to make wine with his brother Tom.
Judy enjoyed bowling, started a small craft business in partnership with a long-time friend, and took loving care of her family and friends. She was very involved with Girl Scouts in several different capacities as well as a very active part of St. Mary's Catholic Church Kenosha, WI and Faith Formation programs.
Judy continues to be active at Most Precious Blood Church in New London, running the church rummage sale during the week as well as leadership roles in the archdiocese.
The Fischers have six children: Barbara (Brian) Galley, Mary Tracy, Robert Jr. (Marla), Pamela (Marty) Whyte, David ( Nicki), Thomas (Terri), 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one on the way!
Their 50th wedding anniversary will be celebrated in New London with their immediate family.
