I-S Memorial Day activities planned
The day starts with a veterans honor ceremony at 10 a.m. at the Scandinavia bridge and cemetery.
The Iola parade will begin at 11 a.m. from the I-S High School and proceed to the Legion Park on north Main Street. The guest speaker at Legion Park will be U.S. Air Force Retired Master Sgt. Chuck Gipp. He is married to the former Mary Peterson, daughter of Roger and Sharon Peterson, of Iola.
Gipp was born in California and entered the Air Force in 1969. He served in special operations and special investigations, then joined the Air Force Reserves for the next 33 years.
A potluck dinner for all veterans and their families will be served following the ceremonies at the Iola Old Car Show Activity Center.
All units and Scouts are invited to participate in the parade and attend the dinner.
