Krueger performs with Twisted Dazzle at Summerfest
Submissions were taken from around the state and Twisted Dazzle was selected to play at Summerfest. Ten acts were picked to play and Twisted Dazzle was one of them.
"I was asked by my drum teacher, Audrey Hendrickson of Appleton, if I wanted to play at Summerfest with an all-girls band, ages 11-14," Krueger stated. "Ms. Hendrickson was asked by Marc Golde, a recording producer in Appleton, if she had a student that could play drums for Twisted Dazzle, a band he has been working with for a year. I played for him and he said I could play with the band.
"I had to practice with Mr. Golde and then with the band," Krueger explained. "I filled in with the band because their drummer could not make it to Summerfest."
After being selected to perform with the band, Krueger had to work hard to learn the songs.
"I had to practice hard to get the songs down," Krueger said. "I did it and loved it. I only had three weeks to get ready."
Once at Summerfest, Krueger was amazed by the venue.
"We played on the Potawatomi Bingo Casino Stage," she commented. "It was so big! We got to go back stage and get ready, and we were treated like rock stars. We played 'I Hate Myself for Loving You' by Joan Jett and 'Girl You Really Got Me Now' by Van Halen."
Though Summerfest will mark a high point in Krueger's young music career, her love for the drums grew significantly with a recent Christmas gift.
"I wanted a set of drums for Christmas and my dad and mom got me a set," she said. "I watched my band teacher, Mrs. Bagstad, play the drums and that's what I wanted to do.
"I started watching Michael Jackson; then I got into the rock bands," she continued. "I play piano because you need two years of piano to play drums in the school band. At the end of this school year I tried out for the drum line and made it.
"I like to be a drummer-it's something I love to do," Krueger commented. "I would like to be as big as KISS, AC/DC, or Queen.
"It's been fun playing with the band. The girls are funny and are nice to be with," Krueger said. "Their drummer, whose name is Emily also, could not make the gig, so I filled in for her. I hope to play with them some more. They will be playing at Paperfest in the battle of the bands on July 17. I'm going to watch them. I had fun and was honored to be picked to play with the band at Summerfest. I felt very honored and excited to play at the world's largest music festival at age 12."
