Scandinavia readers make waves
For every hour that each child reads, the Scandinavia Public Library and Premiere Community Bank are donating 75 cents to The Friends of the Little Wolf River, Wisconsin Trout Unlimited, and The Nature Conservancy in Wisconsin.
By mid-July, Scandinavia readers had raised $137.25 for The Friends of the Little Wolf River, Wisconsin Trout Unlimited, and The Nature Conservancy in Wisconsin, and there's still time to raise more! Any reading logs program participants turn in by Friday, Aug. 6, will continue to earn money for these worthwhile causes. Come into the library or visit us at www.scandinavialibrary.org to see how you can make a difference, too.
Toddle Tales will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27. Children ages 2 to 4 and their caregivers can learn about "Summer!" through stories, songs and a special craft.
Children ages 5 to 17 can enjoy Kids' Crafts from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 27. Dress for some mess to explore the art of wax resist painting. Kids' Crafts is a self-directed activity, so feel free to come in any time between the hours mentioned to make your own masterpiece.
The Adult Lecture Series continues at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at the library. Connie Abert, from the Waupaca County University of Wisconsin Extension office, will talk about rain gardens, a simple method of capturing storm water runoff, thus conserving and improving this important natural resource. Learn more about these beautiful landscape features and how to install them during this informative meeting.
