Public hearings put on hold
Two public hearings were postponed by the Iola Village Board. The board decided at its July 12 meeting that the hearings will instead be held during the board's Aug. 9 monthly meeting.
The first hearing was to consider amending the village's code of ordinances to provide for and establish the capacity of habitable rooms of living units of buildings. The second hearing was to consider the abandonment of an alleyway.
Postponing the hearings will allow for legal council to be in attendance.
In other business, village President Joel Edler stated that the July 8-11 Iola Old Car Show was "relatively quiet."
Board members discussed limiting public comments to five minutes. They also considered the Iola Village Library's request to increase the 2010 library budget by $12,012, which is the unspent amount from the library's 2009 budget. Both items will be put on the August meeting agenda.
