Appraisal event planned in Marion
The Marion Area Historical Society will an appraisal event from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the museum, 321 E. Ramsdell St.
Mark Moran, a former editor of antiques and collectibles books for Krause Publications, will examine and appraise one item each for 40 registered participants. Average appraisal time will take four minutes per item. Cost is $15 per item.
Moran has bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years, specializing in vintage folk art, Americana and fine art. He is the author or co-author of more than 25 books on antiques and collectibles including the 800-page Warman's Antiques and Collectibles, now in it's 45th edition.
Categories for appraisal include fine art, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, promotional materials, folk art, toys, clocks and costume jewelry.
All weapons, including swords and knives, coins and paper money, Beanie Babies, fine jewelry and musical instruments will not be accepted..
