Church includes art in peace series
Several walls at Radiant Fellowship Church now have new artwork on them.
The photography and watercolors went up Friday, Feb. 3 in anticipation of the church's "Give Peace A Chance" series.
"We're an arts-driven church, so I decided to get the arts community involved, asking what their interpretation of peace is and what it means to them," said Bob Adams, the pastor at the church.
Members of the church, as well as artists from the Waupaca area, loaned their art to the church.
Adams, who has an interest in photography, drove around Waupaca and discovered a way to spell the word "peace."
His photographs are among those in the church.
Radiant Fellowship's series about peace began on Sunday, Feb. 5. The topic was inner peace, and it will be followed during the next three weeks with discussions of world peace, relational peace and peace with God, he said.
Adams finds the topic of world peace to be an interesting one since this is a political year in the United States.
"We will address the question of what if instead of trying to fix things, what about helping peace instead?" he asked.
As the series moves on in subsequent weeks to talks of relational peace and peace with God, Adams will talk abut peace within families and then about helping people realize that God loves them as they are.
He is pleased with how others have embraced the idea of incorporating art into their series about peace.
"This is the first time we have done this," Adams said. "We're thinking about incorporating art (into other series) in the future as well."
