Class to perform 'Almost, Maine'
On a cold mid-winter evening, all is not what it seems in the remote town of Almost, Maine.
Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often comedic ways.
"Almost, Maine," acted, directed and produced by Waupaca High School's Advanced Drama class, will be performed at 7 tonight (Thursday, Dec. 22), in the school's Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
The play, written by John Cariani, is one of the most popularly produced plays of this year, according to class instructor Monica Reeves.
"Even though it's very sentimental and cute, many messages about relationships are sincerely conveyed," she said.
The class decided to set up the stage as a three-sided "thrust" stage, in which the audience will actually sit on seats situated directly on the stage.
"It will prove a unique theatre experience," Reeves said.
The class includes Zach Anderson, Jessica Barrows, Emily Bolwerk, Natalie Coppock, Ian Johnson, Parker Kantos, Rachel Kleine, Charles Larson, Missy Heschke, David Lauer, Erinn Manteufel, Eddie Morey, Joe Pegorsch, Sarah Pellerino, Brandi Van Dyke and Joey Vasquez.
