Clintonville Utilities: Online bills available

April 11, 2012 | 0 comments

In order to make it easier for customers to receive and pay utility bills, Clintonville Utilities has a new service-Online Bill, which can be described as online billing and payments. Utility customers are able to register to receive their bills online rather than via the mail, saving customers time and money. Now, customers participating in Online Bill receive emails when their bills are ready for viewing. They click and the bill appears with all the information they would have received on a paper bill.

"This is a win for everyone involved," said Okho Bohm-Hagedorn, Public Utilities Manager. "Most importantly, it saves customers time and money being able to view their bills and make payments online. Also, it has the potential to reduce some costs for the utility, particularly when customers choose to opt out of receiving a paper bill."

Customers can pay from the comfort of their homes, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. From their online bill, they can simply click to a payment page and pay by checking or savings account or they can go to www.clintonvillewi.org." target="_blank">www.clintonvillewi.org. Paying online by check is a free service. If they want to pay by credit card, they can call a toll-free automated phone payment service. A small fee of $2.99 is added to credit card payments; 100 percent of which goes to the payment processing company, not to Clintonville Utilities.

Residents can set up automatic payments and not have to worry about having to go in and make a payment each month. Payments can be for the amount of the bill or a set fixed amount. Or, they can make an immediate payment or schedule a payment.

"We think it is important to offer options for customers when it comes to viewing and paying their utility bills," said Mandy Kriesel, Public Finance Manager. "For example, if a customer preferred to still have paper utility bills mailed to him, even though he likes to go online to pay; we can do that. We hope customers like having that flexibility."

Online Bill is eco-friendly as well. "It's great to do something that benefits our customers while at the same time being kinder to the environment," commented Kriesel.

Security of online information is always a concern, so when Clintonville Utilities looked for a company to provide online bills and payments, that was a top consideration. They chose Payment Service Network (PSN) which has attained Level 1 Certification by the Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS), the highest degree of security awarded by the industry. PSN specializes in providing billing, payment and communication services to utility companies and municipalities. The company was a pioneer in the online payment industry and is based in Madison, Wisconsin.

To register for Online Bill, residents can go to www.clintonvillewi.org and click on the Pay or View Utility Bill button. If residents have any questions, they can call PSN's HELP line toll free at 866-917-7368.
